Indian ODI team for England series – Sehwag dropped, Pujara in

Written By Unknown on Sunday 6 January 2013 | 11:16

India’s team for first 3 matches against England for upcoming ODI series was announced by selection committee. The major change was elimination for attacking batsman Virender Sehwag who was dropped due to indifferent batting performances in the recent past. While Cheteshwar Puajra was drafted into ODI format driven by solid performances both in test matches and domestic matches. Pujara’s inclusion would is also an indication that Indian team management is thinking of next World Cup which would be played in Australia where solid batting technique would be critical factor.
Importantly, players like Gambhir and Rohit Sharma got more chance to prove their worth while Amit Mishra got a chance as visitors are susceptible against leg spin bowling.
The team of 15 members is as follows
MS Dhoni (capt), Cheteshwar Pujara, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Ashok Dinda, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shami Ahmed, Amit Mishra
